QDRO Information

Under The Retirement Equity Act of 1984 (REA), your pension can be affected by the terms of a Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO). The Plan may be ordered to pay from your pension benefits child support, alimony or other spousal payments, or marital property rights to a spouse, former spouse, child, or other dependent of yours. Such benefits can be payable as early as the date you become eligible to retire under the Plan - even if you continue working.

For your pension benefits to be paid to someone other than yourself, a domestic relations order must be 'qualified’. Only the Plan can determine if an order is qualified. The QDRO procedures below explain what is needed to qualify such an order. No monies will be paid to an Alternate Payee if the Plan does not qualify an order.

You may direct your attorney to the Fund’s procedures regarding Qualified Domestic Relations Orders and forms below. To save time and court expense, the Fund will review drafts of proposed orders to determine likely qualification.

Please note that Fund Office personnel can only speak to your attorney about your specific benefits if we have a signed release from you on file.
